John Lennon famously said “life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans”

No doubt we were all making our own plans just as Covid-19 suddenly became a bigger problem than most of us realised. My personal plan was to open a shop in Folkestone Creative Quarter, 48 The Old High Street – having picked up the keys just 10 days ago.  This is increasingly looking like it will be postponed to later in the year.

It’s an extraordinary time to be living through and we all have concerns about what this means for the immediate health and well-being of ourselves, loved ones and the general population.  There is the added worry of what this means for the everyday things we take for granted, access to food and other supplies, education and our jobs and businesses. There is so much that is so difficult to predict.

My personal coping strategy is to focus on the things I can influence such as how I can adapt the way I operate my business.  This will mean concentrating more on my online presence both with the online shop and with social media. I will finally have time to catch up on upcycling projects that took a back seat while I was spending a lot of time in my last shop so there should be some lovely newly upcycled furniture for sale. Luckily my studio is up and running with reclaimed scaffold board shelving and a rather fabulous patterned flooring installation if I do say so myself!

Keep an eye on the website and social media for updates on new pieces of upcycled furniture for sale. I have a fabulous vintage cocktail bar I can’t wait to get stuck into, painting that is not drinking from – yet! Or if you fancy having a go at painting your own furniture while you’re self-isolating you can purchase paints, brushes and other materials via the website for home delivery.  Workshops have been postponed for now but if you’re purchasing paint and would like some advice on how to get started with your projects I am happy to help, just drop me an email or DM on Instagram or Facebook.

Stay safe everyone.
